Training Packages

Going beyond the minimums

Far too often in the flight instruction industry schools over-promise and under-deliver. The FAA has required minimums for each rating but nationwide statistics show that for the majority these minimums are unrealistic. What ends up happening is a school gives the student pricing based upon the minimums without clearly explaining how unlikely it is for the student to actually finish in minimal time. The end result is the student doesn't budget enough money to finish and ends up disappointed feeling as if they were simply not good enough, taken advantage of, or both. When I put together a training package I do not advertise the "minimums". I know from experience that it usually takes longer than that to produce a quality pilot. I am not in the business of producing "certificate holders", rather, I am in the business of creating safe, competent, pilots. You will not feel rushed with me to complete training in a set time because I include additional time in all of my packages to account for what it should take to do a good job. For example, my Private package includes 50 hours of dual flight instruction-providing the student does 10 hours of solo time they would be at 60 hours which is the industry accepted norm. The instrument rating requires 40 hours of simulated instrument time but only 15 hours with a CFII (under Part 61). I do not feel that is reasonable to master the skills one needs to be a safe instrument pilot thus I have doubled that in my package which will save you money in the long run if you do not already possess a lot of instrument time. The same logic goes for the other ratings I offer. Customized packages are also available. Contact me for further details.
